Step Into Another Reality: Hailuo AI x Freepik Video Competition with a Burst of Creativity
From April 1 to April 30, 2025, two powerhouses in the field of creative AI generators—Hailuo AI and Freepik—came together to co-host the “What if…?” Hailuo x Freepik AI Video Competition, a brand new event that inspired creators worldwide to imagine alternate timelines and parallel universes through AI-powered video storytelling.
Based in a bold and playful prompt: “What if…?”, participants were asked to explore the unknown—and to bring their speculative stories to life in short films of at least 30 seconds, crafted using Hailuo AI’s advanced video-generation platform and Freepik’s expansive creative asset library. Drawing in hundreds of submissions from digital artists, filmmakers, students, and AI enthusiasts in our discord community, the event served as a global stage for showcasing the next evolution of narrative and visual design.

From imagining a world where the Roman Empire never fell, to dystopian worlds where animals rule and humans are domesticated, and even whimsical tales where cats evolve to have fingers, the submitted films reflected not only artistic daring, but also a deep curiosity about the possibilities AI can unlock.
In addition, 30 finalists were awarded with one month of Hailuo premium membership, offering participants continued access to top-tier creative tools.
As the competition comes to a close, one thing is clear: this is only the beginning. The “What if…?” theme challenged creators not just to think differently, but to create differently—and to embrace AI not as a replacement for creativity, but as an amplifier of imagination.
